SEEDS of LOVE

Welcomes Children with Special Needs

By Andrea Bryan, Your Bay Shore Islip PM August 22, 2013
The center is now officially working with children who have special needs. All children have a place at Seeds of Love.  August 17th begins the Summer Respite Program, in conjunction with the LIAM Foundation, so know that you should feel comfortable having a conversation about your child's needs and goals.

Also, on August 15, there will be the first of a three-part series: Parenting from the Heart.

But that's not all! Their birthday parties allow kids to be kids...with paint, LIVE music, and song.

You may have noticed Seeds of Love Creative Enrishment Center while perusing the shops on Main Street. Quietly arrayed, the windows invite you in with offers of classes and musical experiences. Enter Seeds of Love at 166 West Main Street in Bay Shore, and you accept an invitation to be at peace.  Instantly, one is both calmed and energized by the ambiance, the vivid colors, and the playful laughter of children.

The studio is a safe place for our little ones - and children recognize they are welcome, almost immediately. Ann Marie Pizano created the studio to be relaxing for adults, too.  There are two beautiful farm-style kitchen tables facing the natural wood floor, covered by bright, comfy rugs.  With a beverage in hand, parents and caretakers might spend their time conversing with each other, relaxing, reading, and enjoying the soft music surrounding them, while Ann guides children through sensory activties and movement.  Meditation is also encouraged at Seeds of Love, if but for a short time, to sustain the focus of young children and to simultaneously re-center accompanying adults.

Will she use the easel? Might he play the drums at the center of the carpet?  Maybe strum the guitar, or draw with chalk?  Just making silly faces at the walls of mirrors could be fun for a while.  At Seeds of Love, everyone is an artist.

Seeds of Love
is a mistake-free zone for children, and that is not always the case in an art classroom.  That's why Ann guides our children, while she suggests and demonstrates and asks what the children want, how they feel, and where they wish to go with their own art, in their own time.

Ann's love for others extends into the community as she aspires for Seeds of Love to be a meeting place for adults to share their visions and dreams for the Bay Shore - Islip area.  The Giggle Patch might be what grown-ups call 'our' meeting time, within the Seeds of Love creative space, where we share new endeavors with our neighbors.

Yes, this quaint place on Main is unique and very welcome indeed.  Stop by and say hello, read the messages of love on the walls, and feel what I felt when I first entered.

Happy.
